A year or two back, I was shooting some footage for the Walking Wave Series at Ferry Plaza. It was a beautiful day. The plaza contained ample pedestrians and the usual public space extras: skateboarders, panhandlers and musicians (specifically a drummer). I recall being a bit annoyed with the skateboarders. They love to show off for cameras. A number attempted various dynamics in my line of sight but my video stayed fixed on walking people.
I obtained footage of people in abundance.
Weeks and weeks after, when I was going over old material for some last sips of inspiration, I came across one particular stream of images that caught my attention. The orange trousers were the “hook.” The red blouse in the background the “line,” and the twirling skateboard the “sinker!”
